For Coaches, Parents, Spectators & Club Admins
Team Selector is a modern Progressive Web App (PWA). You don’t need to search the App Store or Google Play Store, and there are no passwords or downloads required. Just add it directly from your web browser to your home screen in two quick taps.
No 200MB download waiting in the rain on pitchside 4G.
No Apple ID or Google Play passwords or biometrics needed.
Instant fixture changes and new features without updating.
Lock-screen notifications for match line-ups & kick-off times.
Requires Safari on iOS 16.4 or later
Open the Safari browser on your iPhone or iPad. Navigate to your club’s Team Selector address (e.g. yourclub.team-selector.co.uk).
Look at the navigation toolbar at the bottom of your iPhone screen (or at the top on iPad) and tap the Share button:
Scroll down the list of options in the share menu until you find Add to Home Screen.
A preview will appear showing the Team Selector app icon. Tap Add in the top-right corner of your screen.
You’re all set! Find the Team Selector icon on your home screen and tap it. It opens full screen with no browser bars. Sign in, tap the Notifications tab, and turn on alerts so you never miss a match call-up or kick-off change.
Works in Google Chrome, Samsung Internet & Edge
When you visit your club’s Team Selector page in Chrome, an install banner usually appears at the bottom or an install button appears in your address bar:
Simply tap Install or Add and the app will instantly be added to your home screen and app launcher.
If you don’t see the automatic banner, you can install it in two taps at any time:
For coaches, fixture secretaries and administrators
Look at the right side of your browser’s address bar for the Install App icon (a computer monitor with a down arrow). Click it and select Install.
Team Selector will open in its own clean window without browser tabs. It can be pinned to your Mac Dock or Windows Taskbar for one-click access.
Everything you need to know about Team Selector as a web app
By providing Team Selector as a Progressive Web App (PWA), your sports club avoids hefty 30% app store developer taxes and complex enterprise licensing. It also means you never need to enter an Apple ID or Google password, and whenever the fixture schedule, pitch allocations, or scores change, you always have the latest version instantly.
If you clicked a match link from WhatsApp, Facebook, or an email, it likely opened inside that app’s internal browser rather than Safari. Tap the compass icon in the bottom corner of your screen to Open in Safari. In Safari, tap the Share button (square with arrow up) and “Add to Home Screen” will be visible.
Apple requires Progressive Web Apps to be launched from the Home Screen icon before notifications can be activated. Once you have added the app to your Home Screen, tap the icon to open it, log in, navigate to the Notifications tab in the menu, and tap “Turn on Notifications”.
No. Traditional store apps often take up 150MB to 300MB of storage. Progressive Web Apps use less than 2MB of memory while still providing instantaneous loading, offline sheet access, and full touchline functionality.
